Behind the Scenes: Mural Creation for Ely Museum’s Summer Exhibition

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of documenting a beautiful new mural taking shape at Ely Museum. Painted by local artist Laura Pearson-Clark (@artintheburrow), the mural forms part of the museum’s summer exhibition A Golden Age of Summer, an immersive celebration of Edwardian leisure and Fenland landscapes. Inspired by the rivers, reeds, and wildlife of the Fens, the artwork transforms one of the museum’s rooms into a peaceful, nature-filled space designed especially for families and younger visitors. Over two visits, I captured the creative process as the mural evolved from blank walls into a vibrant, calming scene, offering a fresh, playful contrast to the museum’s traditional exhibits.
